The Pillows (ግምት) Can't Stop Consuming Tigray, Still, Their Owner (መንበድበድ) Tore Them Out Evilly
The people of Tigray are trapped in a devastating cycle of betrayal and exploitation, orchestrated by those who should have been their protectors. The interim administration (ግምት), tasked with rebuilding and governing the region, has failed to uphold its responsibilities. Instead, it has become a puppet of Abiy Ahmed (መንበድበድ), a regime intent on dismantling Tigray’s resilience.
This metaphorical "pillow" that should have cushioned the people’s pain has instead consumed Tigray, feeding on its suffering. And, as if that were not enough, its overseer, Abiy Ahmed, has torn it apart, exposing the people to even more devastation.
Broken Promises for IDPs
One of the most glaring failures of the interim administration is its inability—or unwillingness—to fulfill its promises to internally displaced persons (IDPs). More than 50 commitments have been made to ensure the safe return of displaced families to their homes. Yet, these promises remain unkept. Camps remain overcrowded, basic needs go unmet, and the displaced are left in limbo, robbed of the chance to rebuild their lives.
This continued neglect is not merely administrative incompetence; it is a deliberate strategy to maintain control over a vulnerable population. By keeping Tigrayans displaced, the regime deepens their dependence and erodes their sense of security and autonomy.
Justice Betrayed: The Release of Genociders
Perhaps the most egregious betrayal came when the interim administration handed over captured genociders—individuals detained by the Tigray Defense Forces (TDF) during the genocidal warfare. These perpetrators were expected to face justice for their crimes, offering some measure of accountability for the atrocities committed against the people of Tigray.
Instead, ግምት delivered these criminals back to the very regime that orchestrated the violence. This shocking decision has left victims without justice and emboldened those responsible for atrocities, signaling that their actions carry no consequences.
Bartered Away for a Tequila Shot
The depth of the betrayal becomes even starker when considering the rumored motives behind these decisions. Whispers suggest that this treachery was exchanged for fleeting, trivial rewards—a single tequila shot. This imagery starkly highlights the moral bankruptcy of the interim administration, which appears willing to trade the dignity and safety of an entire people for indulgent, personal gains.
Tearing Tigray Apart
Under the oppressive shadow of Abiy Ahmed, ግምት has become a tool of destruction rather than reconstruction. Instead of protecting Tigray and its people, it facilitates their continued suffering. Every broken promise, every act of complicity, and every failure to serve the people further erodes the hope of true recovery and justice.
A Call to Action
The story of ግምት and መንበድበድ is one of betrayal, but it is also a rallying cry for those who believe in Tigray’s future. The people of Tigray deserve leaders who will fight for their rights and protect their interests, not those who will barter them away for personal gain or political convenience.
The people cannot afford to remain silent. Tigray’s rightful advocates must rise to challenge this destructive leadership and demand accountability for the suffering inflicted on their region. Without action, the cycle of exploitation will continue, and the sacrifices of the past will be rendered meaningless.
Tigray deserves more than broken promises and betrayal. It deserves justice, security, and a future where its people can thrive in peace. The time to act is now.
